Shadows of Nibarra
Lady Jalanvaloss claims descent from a noble line stretching back beyond the coming of Nerath; some say that her blood ties her family to the land around Adinhold as far back as the Taern Imperium.
During the Darnic invasion, Lady Jalanvaloss was among the first to turn her existing mercantile empire into a vast supply train for the defending armies and, once the invasion was repelled, one of the first to join Aldred Gerrin in his movement to turn Adinhold into the trading capital of northern Nibarra. Along with Gerrin and the antiquities dealer Perista (now so closely associated with the Golden Rope that she keeps a trading outpost in their common room), she founded the Council of Merchants, and has grown her holdings both locally and across Nibarra.
Some of the noble houses may sneer behind closed doors about how she lowers herself to involve herself so directly in trade, but they would never do so where they think she might hear.
